Pato Bosich, James Putnam and Irving Finkel in Conversation. Hosted by Pato Bosich.

Three Highgate Gallery is pleased to invite you to this special evening of art, art history and myth around Pato Bosich’s exhibition Future Past.

Bosich is currently the gallery’s artist-in-residence. Future Past is the outcome of his ongoing body of work inspired by the British Museum’s collections of Mesoamerican, Egyptian, Greek, Mesopotamian and other antiquities. Using pencil, ink, and wine, he has developed this imaginative series over a period of more than nine years, both on-site at the museum and in his studio.

For this evening, Bosich will be joined in conversation by Dr. Irving Finkel, the renowned philologist and Assyriologist and Assistant Keeper of Ancient Mesopotamian script, languages and cultures in the Department of the Middle East in the British Museum, where he’s specialised in cuneiform inscriptions from ancient Mesopotamia, and independent curator and author James Putnam, founder in 1999 of the British Museum’s Contemporary Arts and Culture Programme, who has a keen interest in the relationships between art and history.

This promises to be a fruitful meeting of passion and ideas about how art travels across time not in a linear, unblemished way, but as a perpetual dialogue between the ancient and contemporary that keeps on transforming itself and its trove of meanings, as Bosich’s exhibition makes manifest so clearly.

The conversation will be preceded by a private viewing.
